The mission of Faith Christian School is to "educate and train." The word "education" means "to present a formalized curriculum." The primary curriculum used by FCS is from Bob Jones University Press. With over eighty years of Christian educational experience, the BJU curriculum is among the nation's best. FCS also uses the Saxon Math System, which centers around drill and the absolute mastery of basic math skills. The primary key to educational success is COMMUNICATION. Faith Christian School uses FACTS family portal to achieve the highest level of communication possible. FACTS is a trusted school management platform that connects administrators, teachers, parents, and students through one easy-to-use system. From enrollment and tuition payments to attendance and academic records, FACTS simplifies everyday school operations and improves communication across the school community.
Academic Philosophy
Academic development is the primary goal of Faith Christian School. The sincere desire of the administration, faculty and staff at Faith is to provide the best educational program possible. Each class is taught from a conservative, Bible-believing perspective and students are challenged to develop the character necessary to achieve a level of excellence that will help them succeed in their spiritual life and their future career. The faculty and staff are committed to the basic philosophy of constant improvement. The teachers attend workshops and seminars in a continuous search for improved ways of educating and training young people. The heart that drives Faith's academic philosophy is that each teacher realizes that sitting in their classrooms are future leaders and servants of Jesus Christ.
Standardized Testing
Life is full of "pop quizzes" and tests, and, at FCS, we are no different. Although students are subjected to tests in their various classes, we also test the students every year, using the Iowa Achievement Test. After the tests are administered in the spring, they are graded and the scores are compared to other Christian schools as well as public schools. The students in our school typically score well above the national average on this test.
Class Rankings
Each year the North Carolina Christian School Association releases an achievement test school ranking report for its member schools. The ranking report compares Faith Christian School against the other member schools of the association with how the school performed on the Stanford Achievement test. Our association consists of about 60 Christian schools statewide. The achievement test is given each April here at Faith. After reviewing the rankings, we are excited to report to you some of the results. Each result reflects how a particular grade did in the whole state. For example 3rd grade was 10th in the state in reading. Thus, meaning our third grade had the 10th highest ranking among all 3rd grade classes in our association.

Courses and Curriculum
Preschool through Twelfth Grade uses the Bob Jones Press Curriculum. In addition, the elementary grades and the middle school classes use the Positive Action for Christ Bible curriculum. Third Grade through Ninth Grade uses the Sadlier Oxford Vocabulary Curriculum. High school English is BJU Press and supplemental content chosen by the teacher. High School Science is Apologia Curriculum for General and Physical Sciences, Biology and Advanced Biology, while Chemistry and Physics is BJU Press.
About the Learning Center
The Learning Center, previously known as the "Enrichment Center" or "Talent Development Center", was added to Faith's educational program in the fall of 1985 to help meet the needs of students who were struggling in the classroom. The philosophy, and hence the name, of the program is based on Matthew 25:14-30, the parable of the talents. Clearly, every Christian has the responsibility of fully developing the abilities God has given him that he might serve and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. The Talent Development program is designed to help meet this goal in the lives of students that need a more individualized program. Students who are struggling are referred to the learning center by their classroom teachers. These students are then evaluated and, if appropriate, enrolled in the program. Here students work on materials at their academic level with individual or small group instruction. Some of these students have specific learning differences while others simply need the individualized instruction. The learning Center, on occasion, has also been a place for academically gifted students to work at an advanced level. Again, the goal is to see each child develop his abilities to the fullest so that he might go on to serve God in whatever capacity that might be, whether it is into the work force or on to college.

What's Under the Covers?
Mark Twain once said, "A man who can read but who does not read is no better off than a man who can't read." With the 9,000 books in the FCS library, there is certainly no excuse for a student NOT to read! The library enjoys a fully-computerized search and check-out system as well as filtered Internet access.
